Iā€™m not sure when the next sale will happen, but pick up L4D2. It has the content of the first game, also including the original content of 2. Pretty much every Steam sale Valve sells all their games for bargain bin prices. Most of them, including L4D2, are $2.
20 more days and (depending on what Valve titles you own) you get all the games (the rest, and both L4D) for dirt cheap. You get Portal franchise, CS franchise, Half Life franchise (HL, HL Source, HL Deathmatch, HL 2 and both episodes + Lost Coast) Day of Defeat and Source edition, Ricochet (not that you might care) Deathmatch Classic and Team Fortres Classic.
Looking at the past times it went on sale, I wouldn't expect it to go on sale again until the Steam Summer Sale which usually starts mid to late June. Ensure you add it to your Steam Wishlist so you do get notified when it is put on sale. The next big sale will be in May. Not really.
